Captain Jason “Jay” Fish
Captain Jay is a US Coast Guard licensed captain with over 30 years sailing experience. He grew up sailing on the coast of Maine, learning and then teaching sailing at the Petit Manan Yacht Club in Milbridge, ME. He has also sailed professionally as an able seaman on the 127' schooner Young America out of Bar Harbor, ME. Jay kept sailing through college racing 420s and as an adult teaching sailing on St. Croix, USVI where he was also an EMT. Locally, He raced with the Brooklyn Bridge Sailing Club during their inaugural season.
He fulfilled his dream of having his own boat in 2015 when he purchased Guppy. Then, a year later, realized another dream as he dropped anchor in Joy Bay, where he grew up, after his first offshore passage. Since then he has single handedly sailed up and down the east coast from New Jersey to Nova Scotia.
When he is not sailing, you can find Jay working on his boat or cooking dinner for his friends. He works in sports medicine at Brooklyn College as head of their athletic training department and an adjunct professor of anatomy.
Jay welcomes his guests aboard Guppy to share the sailing dream.
